Research Areas
The INTEG-RNA project focused on the following research areas:
1) Epigenetic mechanisms in the regulation of gene expression, chromatin assembly, genome stability and telomere homeostasis
- Structure, evolution and maintenance of telomeres and their roles in chromosome stability, DNA repair and plant speciation. Telomerase complex composition and function
- The role of RNA in DNA Repair
2) RNA processing and RNA modifications
- RNA editing/modifying enzymes and innate immuity.
- Crosstalk with RNA modification
- The mechanisms and functions of internal and terminal RNA modifications mostly in mammalian systems
3) Building Machine Learning models for identification of functional binding rules (miRNA:mRNA and RBPs)
- Analysis of RNA-binding proteins in the context of viral infections
- Sequence-specific recognition of single-stranded RNA by RNA-binding proteins
- Systematic measurements of mutational effects in RNA and proteins
4) Single-cell RNAseq and miRNA+mRNAs seq
- The role of noncoding RNAs
- Mechanistic effects of coding sequence mutations in gene regulation
- Bioinformatics of GENE sequencing and quantitative proteomics data
